Outdoor Worship is June 19th

On June 19th we will gather in our “front lawn” rather than going down to Riverside Park. We hope you would help us invite our neighborhood, especially those in the high rises and apartments near our church. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Bring sun screen and hats. There is shade near the church, and we will also put out chairs. And of course, if there is a rain-out, we’ll just move inside.

Invite friends and neighbors!

The next ELCA Youth Gathering is scheduled for July 18-22, 2012. We will have an informational meeting on Saturday, May 14th, at 10:00am, in the Fellowship Hall, for current 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade youth, their parents/guardians, and anyone interested in being an adult chaperone.

Why now? We need to start planning now because congregational leaders will be able to apply for financial assistance ($315 registration fee) on behalf of our young people (who would be unable to attend otherwise) beginning Sunday, May 15. The deadline for financial assistance is July 31, 2011 – or until the funds are depleted and the registration deadline is September 2012. You need the information now to decide if your youth will be participating and we need a head count estimate to start planning for a great trip! Questions, talk to Jessica or Pastor Mark.

You are invited to help us celebrate our 7th year of Rotational Sunday School on Sunday May 15th after worship on the front church lawn. There will be games, prizes, a cakewalk, and lots and lots of fun! Don’t miss out on all the fun and bring a friend!

DONATIONS NEEDED

We are also in need of cakes, cookies and bars (split into individual servings so more people can play and win), plain white socks in all sizes, and items for the fundraising baskets to help make this year’s End of Year Party great. If you are able to help with this need please contact Jessica!

Bike To Church on May 15th

Bike to Work Week is May 14-20! As part of Bike to Work Week, we also encourage community members to bike to their places of worship.

Bike to Work Week is a national event to encourage safe biking for fun and transportation, and to encourage motorists to share the road with bikes. The first Bike to Work Day was organized by the League in 1956 and has expanded into Bike to Work Week and National Bike Month.

The Driftless Region Bicycle Coalition’s Bike to Work Week activities are in support of that effort in the Driftless region by promoting: bike to work, to school, to worship and to shop. The mission of the Driftless Region Bicycle Coalition is “getting more people on bikes, more often by advocating for bicycling infrastructure and a dynamic bicycling culture.”
