Mission Statement

The mission of the Women’s Clothes Closet is to provide gently used clothing to low-income women who are entering the workforce, in the workforce, or otherwise in need.

Hours of Operation:

  • Mondays 9 am – 2 pm
  • Tuesdays 2 pm – 6:30 pm
  • Saturdays 9 am – 1 pm

Started in 1997, the Women’s Clothes Closet was created as a project by a student social worker at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

In 2018, the Women’s Clothes Closet had 1,941 clients and received 778 donations that included clothing, shoes, new undergarments, jewelry, accessories, coats, make-up, and personal care items.

New visitors to the WCC can choose three complete outfits. Returning visitors can select one outfit per visit, up to two times per month. No questions are asked about income or employment status.

Donations

The Women’s Clothes Closet is always in need of gently used in-season clothing that is fashionable, clean, and in good repair.  Bras, shoes, handbags, scarves, jewelry, boots, hats, gloves, and coats are also very much appreciated.  Financial contributions help us pay the wages of our Clothes Closet Coordinator.  Checks should be out to the Women’s Clothes Closet and sent to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 612 Division Street, La Crosse, WI 54601.

Supporting a Great Cause is Always in Fashion!

Saturday, November 2, 2019 marks the 12th annual Fashion Cornucopia style show fundraiser to benefit the Women’s Clothes Closet.

The Women’s Clothes Closet Advisory Board created Fashion Cornucopia with the goal of bringing women (and men) together to raise funds to help meet on-going expenses and to increase exposure and donations for the closet.  In its twelfth year, the event has been expanded to include two fabulous shows of fall and winter fashions and accessories provided by the following area businesses:  Dale’s Clothing for Men and Women, Duluth Trading Company, Mainstream Boutique of Onalaska, Touch of Class, Willow Boutique, Unique Boutique, and Uptown Cycle Fitness Boutique.  Guests will also enjoy a gourmet four course meal, wine, live music, a silent auction, and a chance to win a beautiful handmade quilt.  Reserved seating tickets are $35 each or a table of eight for $240.  Quilt raffle tickets, silent auction items, and table wine are available for purchase.  For tickets, call 608.782.3468.

The proceeds of the style show benefit the Women’s Clothes Closet, a local non-profit agency, whose mission is to provide free, gently used clothing to low-income women who are entering the workforce, in the workforce, or otherwise in need.

Plan now to be with us on this special occasion!
