We have enough bags for every 0SLC household. Join us for worship, and take home a bag. Use it when you shop; use it to help you have conversations about OSLC and invite others to see what Our Savior’s is all about!

This project is part of the work of the Membership and Evangelism Team.

Please let Pastor Jolivette and the church office know of your desire to join with our community of faith. The office will get transfer requests as appropriate from your previous congregation and take care of all the paperwork.

We give a special invitation to fiancés, partners and spouses of members to join us in ministry. We look for a large group. Feel free to use the pew card to pass along any intentions or information.

Singers and Musicians Needed For Summer Worship

Calling All Singers! On the third Sunday of each month this summer, everyone ages 3-103 is invited to praise the Lord with a simple, fun song during church! Kaye will start rehearsal at 8:15 and end at 8:45 in the choir room. Juice will be provided. We will sing ”Labara” in June, “Here I am Lord” in July, and ”Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love” in August. (The congregation will join with us on the refrain of each song so everyone can sing together.) The dates to sing are June 20, July 18, and August 15.

We also invite all, choir members or not, including school age children, to enhance worship with a musical performance of their own. A solo, duet, trio, etc., of vocal, piano, or other instrument is very welcomed. Please contact Louise Temte to make arrangements.

Artwork Needed For Lenten Season

February 12, 2010

Would you like to do art as a spiritual practice for Lent? You are invited to create artwork (using any materials of your choice) that reflects your faith, or artwork that is based on the Lenten theme: All People Are Held Together Through Jesus Christ. You can work individually at home or there will also be opportunities at church to come and work together.

You can also share your art during Lent by displaying it during Lenten worship in the fellowship hall. You are welcome to come for part or all of the work days/times below as you desire (we will be working in Room 15 in the basement until further notice).

There will be three work days to help paint a large map of the world:

  • February 14th (Sun)  1:00-4:00 pm
  • February 17th (Wed)  3:00-6:00 pm
  • February 21st (Sun)  1:00-4:00 pm

There will be five other opportunities to do artwork as a spiritual practice together: 3:00-6:00pm on Wednesday, Feb 24th and every Wednesday from March 3rd to March 24th.

Please talk to Intern Sherry if you have more questions!

  • dolls of all sizes and ethnicities
  • trucks and cars
  • Bible story books
  • wooden puzzles, especially things found in creation (animals, trees, people, etc.)
  • “Fisher-Price” Little People: Noah’s Ark, Zoo and Nativity
  • board games
  • Home Living toys

Please, we do not need any stuffed animals or toys that are “character-related”, such as Mickey Mouse, Dora the Explorer, etc.

Drop off  items in the marked box in the nursery or at the church office during regular business hours. Contact the Family and Youth Team with questions. Thank you!

are going to use the Holden Evening Prayer service and will be having our services in the Fellowship Hall.

Soup suppers will again be offered on the 5 “between” weeks. Supper will be served from 6:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. (no later) in the Fellowship Hall and worship will begin at 7:00 p.m.

We will be kneeling for communion services during the Lenten season and Holy Week. Worship Assistant sign-up sheets through Easter have been posted on the bulletin board near Pastor’s office.

Church Council Looking For Key Leadership in 2010

January 15, 2010

As OSLC  approaches its annual meeting on January 31st, three positions need the right persons to fill them: congregational treasurer, stewardship committee chair, and Christian education chairperson.

  • Congregational Treasurer: Our hired bookkeeper does check writing and reconciliations, so the treasurer signs checks and stays on top of our financial reports and transactions.
  • Stewardship Committee Chairperson: This position is backed by a multiple of stewardship materials available for monthly usage from our ELCA, so we are looking forward to having someone able to access this material on line, and lead our public discussions throughout the year on how we use God’s gifts among us.
  • Christian Education Chairperson:  This position not only involves Sunday School, but youth and adult life-long learning.

Anyone interested, please contact  Becky Grapes or Rod Tisthammer. Thank you!
