Share The Bounty With AMOS This Spring

The Food Insecurity Task Force of AMOS is starting a new program called “Share the Bounty.” As we wait for the planting season to begin, we ask that you think about sowing extra seeds or setting out extra plants in order to share the harvest with others and make the Coulee Region a healthier place.
Collection sites and distribution will be facilitated by the Hunger Task Force and WAFER (details will be released at a later date). If you’re not a gardener, you still may take part in this project by purchasing produce at the local farmer’s markets and contributing those items to the program (and more on that later, as well). Please consider sharing your bounty this year!
If you have questions about the program, please contact Sonja Simonson Schrag or Rod Tisthammer.

AMOS (Advocating-Mobilizing-Organizing in Solidarity) is an interfaith congregation-based coalition working for justice in the La Crosse area. AMOS has formed four task forces to address issues here in La Crosse. The task forces are: Healthcare, Hmong Issues, Restorative Justice and Food Insecurity in La Crosse.
Volunteers are needed to develop a “core team” here at OSLC and/or join one of the task forces. Task forces are made up of people committed to doing justice in their parish and in the La Crosse area. AMOS is endorsed by the synod Church in Society Committee.
Questions or concerns may be directed to the Social Ministry Team. Thank you!

Our Savior’s Participating in AMOS Share the Bounty Program
June 23, 2009
Filed under AMOS, Ministries, Social Ministries
“Share the Bounty” is a program being sponsored by the Food Insecurity Task Force of AMOS. The idea for the program is for La Crosse area residents to share their “extra” produce and/or to plant more produce to share with those residents who do not have the opportunity to raise their own fresh food.
Drop-off sites have tentatively been established, with details to follow (OSLC will be a drop-off site on Tuesdays from 1-6 pm). In the meantime, plan on sharing your extra produce, or better yet, plant a little more and receive great joy in sharing with your fellow residents the wholesomeness of fresh food.
