Welcome from Pastor Joanne Richmond

I welcome you to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  Whether you are just searching this website for specific programs or looking for a congregation with which to worship or affiliate, we are a church that is committed to being welcoming to all. A congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, we have chosen to be a “Reconciling in Christ” congregation, currently the only such parish in our synod.

The congregation celebrated its 150th birthday in 2011. Founded as the mother Norwegian Lutheran Church in the city of La Crosse, we have long ago broadened our community. This congregation served a key role in the development of Lutheran Hospital and its affiliation with the early Gundersen medical practice.

We are located on the near south side of downtown La Crosse, with two bus stops (Route #1) on our block. Routes 2 and 5 stop nearby on Cass St. Parking is available on both the 6th Street and 7th Street entrances.

Our congregation has a special focus to reach out to the community around us.  We host the largest single meal service in La Crosse County, our Come For Supper held every Tuesday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.  We also host the Women’s Clothes Closet, the only free service of its kind in the area. Dedicated volunteers are always welcome!

I invite you to worship with us on Sunday at 9 am and noon on Wednesdays.  The Wednesday service has a different message from the Sunday morning sermon, so those seeking spiritual enrichment throughout the week are welcome to join those who find noon the best time to get to church.

I look forward to meeting you, introducing you to many wonderful ministries this congregation supports, and most of all, to talk about the incredible love given to each of us by God through Jesus Christ.
